Transfer Of Premises Licence

The transfer of a license occurs when ownership of a business changes hands, requiring consent from the previous owner.

A premises licence is required for any party—whether corporate, individual, or a group—engaged or planning to engage in licensable activities on the premises. When assuming control of premises, apply for the licence transfer to your name. Conversely, when leaving a business where you held the licence, ensure its transfer to signal the end of your responsibility for site operations.

Variation To Premises Licence

If the premises licence holder passes away, becomes mentally incapacitated, insolvent, or loses the right to work in the UK, the licence lapses immediately. Anyone with a stake in the business can apply to revive the licence within 28 days. Failing to do so within this timeframe results in the licence lapsing, thereby discontinuing licensable activities at the premises
